Coxen Carved His Way to Earn GNAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

| By:
Portland, OR. –  Helping lead the Montana State University Billings baseball team to an 11-1 victory over Western Oregon this past weekend, freshman Sam Coxen was named GNAC Pitcher of the week, released earlier this afternoon. The righty picked up his seventh win of the season on his way to his first career player of the week honors.

HEAR FROM COACH WADDOUPS: "Sam has continued to improve in each of his outings this season. He had full command of all three pitches and did an outstanding job of attacking the strike zone this past weekend. He loves to compete, he has been a core rotation arm for us this season, and he just continues to set the standard."
The Granite Bay, California native threw the best stat lines across the conference, dishing out eight strikeouts in his seven complete innings of work. Coxen allowed just three hits and one walk which was good for a WHIP of 0.54. In his start, the Wolves were only able to scratch one run across, helping improve his season ERA to 3.81 which ranks him 5th in the entire GNAC.

Coxen continues to push the envelope in regard to the MSUB baseball record books. After adding his seventh win of the season, Coxen is now tied for the most single season wins as a freshman and sits just one win away from tying the single season wins record (8) in MSUB history.
