Yellowjacket Senior Quartet Receive CSC Academic All-District Honors

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings women's basketball team had four of it's student-athletes received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, with the senior quartet of Dyauni Boyce, Aspen Giese, Kortney Nelson, and Chloe Williams each earning recognition, as announced by CSC on Tuesday.
 
Academic All-District honorees are recognized as some of the region's top performers, combining both performance on the court and in the classroom. To receive the award, a student-athlete must compete in 90% or more of a team's game, or start at least 66% of games, while holding a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Three of MSUB's four selections were multi-year recipients of the Academic All-District honor, while all four student-athletes hold a GPA this year of 3.89 or higher.
 
"I am very proud all our seniors were able to earn Academic All-District honors," said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. "Dyauni, Kortney, Aspen, and Chloe have done a tremendous job of effectively balancing the challenging schedule of being a collegiate student-athlete. Each of them will graduate on time and have been academic honor students every semester at MSUB. Collectively, they have positively impacted our MSUB women's basketball both on the court and in the classroom with their leadership and determination. I am excited for their futures and know they will all be successful in whatever they pursue."
 
Boyce adds another honor to what has been a decorated season, earning an WBCA All-American Honorable Mention nod to go with D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, and unanimous All-GNAC First Team Selections. Earning Academic All-District for the third consecutive season, Boyce also earned Academic All-GNAC honors for the fourth time in her career this season, holding a perfect 4.0 GPA while earning her master's in school counseling. On the court, Boyce led MSUB in scoring with 15.7 points per game, chipping further with 6.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.
 
Giese earned Academic All-District honors for the second time in her career, accumulating a 3.89 GPA while working towards a degree in mathematics. The senior has also been a three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree in her career, maintaining a 3.96 cumulative GPA while earning her undergraduate degree last year. The Division II leader in made three-pointers this season, Giese picked up All-GNAC Second Team honors after averaging 13.7 points per game, knocking down 42.1% of her three-point attempts. She also added 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in an impressive final season.
 
Another three-time Academic All-Region honoree, Nelson received the honor while also earning a 4.0 GPA while working towards her master's in school counseling. Nelson was also a four-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, while maintaining a 3.85 cumulative undergraduate GPA and earning her degree last spring. The senior point guard put together another impressive season after being named the 2023-24 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, earning All-GNAC Second Team honors for the third consecutive season while averaging 8.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
 
Williams, who has been a three-time Academic All-GNAC award winner, picked up the first career Academic All-District honor of her career, after earning a 3.94 cumulative GPA while working towards her degree in health and human performance. The senior guard put together a breakout season after ascending to MSUB's starting lineup as a senior, receiving an All-GNAC Honorable Mention nod after averaging 9.1 points, 4.0 rebound, 3.1 assists, and 1.8 steals across 32 games for the Yellowjackets.
 
Academic All-District honorees are also considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
