Cooper Dewitt Named CSC Academic All-District

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Montana State University Billings men's basketball team saw senior forward, Cooper Dewitt earn CSC Academic All-District recognition released earlier this afternoon. The College Sports Communicators recognizes the top student athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. In order to receive the award, student athletes must be at least a sophomore, hold at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and compete in 90 percent of the institutions games or start in at least 66 percent of the institutions games.

Dewitt not only played heavy contributions on the court, but the forward also held a cumulative GPA of 3.56. The Pasco, WA native played in 32 of the 34 games while starting in 20 of them for a total of 920 minutes this season. For the Yellowjackets, Dewitt scored 264 points (7.7 PPG) while grabbing 140 rebounds (4.4 RPG) with 72 assists (2.3 APG). On the offensive side of the ball, he shot an impressive clip of 43% from the field, 32% from three, and just under 70% from the free throw line. On defense, Dewitt led the entire Great Northwest Athletic Conference in steals (65) and ranks fifth in the MSUB record books for single season steals.
 
Before MSUB, Dewitt made stops at North Idaho College before making heading to at Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis where he spent two more seasons before transferring to MSUB. At his previous stops, Dewitt was named to the IUPUI's Academic Advisors List three times and was named Second Team All-NWAC at NIC. In his career, Dewitt has totaled 595 points, 296 rebounds, 164 assists, and 120 steals. From MSUB, Dewitt plans to graduate with a degree in in General Studies with a concentration in Arts and Humanities.
