PORTLAND, Ore.- After helping lead the Montana State University Billings baseball team to a series sweep over the Saint Martin's Saints, senior center fielder
Ryan Jeffrey was named GNAC Player of the Week, released earlier this afternoon.
HEAR FROM COACH WADDOUPS: "Ryan had an outstanding all-around weekend for us, he was stellar defensively and did a great job of cutting balls off in the gaps. He also had a power surge on the weekend to lead us offensively. His contributions and quality at bats made our entire lineup better throughout the four-game stretch."
The Park City, UT native led the entire conference in batting average this weekend (.583) while also leading the GNAC in on base percentage (.647) and slugging percentage (1.167). Jeffrey also posted two home runs while tallying eight RBIs, eight runs, and drew three walks. On the defensive side of the ball, Jeffrey had four putouts with zero errors for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with an outfield assist to add. The senior center fielder improved his season average to .342 while ranking second on the team in OBP (.465), third on the team in SLG (.544), and third in OPS (1.009).
In the final game of the series, Jeffrey had his best performance of the weekend, going 2-2 from the plate with two home runs while also drawing three walks. He topped the team in runs (4) and RBIs (3) to lead the Yellowjackets to a series sweep over the Saints while securing head coach
Derek Waddoups his 100th career win at MSUB. With the milestone victory, Waddoups now ranks as the second-winningest coach in MSUB baseball history.
