Bryn Lucht Receives GNAC Player of the Week Honors

2/10/2025 2:10:00 PM

PORTLAND, Ore. – Following an impressive week at the plate for the Montana State University Billings softball team, Bryn Lucht was awarded with GNAC Softball Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Monday.

"Bryn had great at-bats, and worked counts to take advantage of her at-bats," said Yellowjacket head coach Joe Yegge. "She is really seeing the ball and has bought into what we are trying to do offensively. She did a great job tracking balls down in a tough indoor environment, where she had to move over to center field for the weekend."

A sophomore outfielder, Lucht has started the year on fire from the plate for the Yellowjackets in what has been a breakout year. She continued that hot start this week, hitting 6-11 (.545) from the plate to lead all GNAC hitters, while also leading the conference in slugging percentage (.818) and on base percentage (.643). Lucht reached base with three additional walks over the week's action, reaching base in each of MSUB's games. Her highlight moment would come in the Yellowjackets first win of the season on Thursday night against Jamestown, where Lucht would hit her second home run of the season, sending a grand slam to right center field to help guide the Yellowjackets to a 6-4 victory. Lucht would finish that game 3-4 with a home run, a run, and four RBIs. On the 2025 season, Lucht leads the Yellowjackets with a .421 batting average, .737 slugging, and a .542 on base percentage, while also holding team highs in hits (8), home runs (2) and walks (5), while tying for the team lead in RBIs (5). She is the only hitter in the GNAC to have hit multiple home runs this season so far.

Lucht and the Yellowjackets (1-7) will take the week off following cancelations to previously scheduled games against Carroll College and Providence. They'll return to action as a part of the GNAC Winter Warmup, facing off against conference foes in a round robin scheduled to take place from Feb. 21-23.
