MONMOUTH, Ore. – In the final game of it's 2025 regular season, the Montana State University Billings women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 on the road by #20 Western Oregon University in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
Facing off against the nationally-ranked Wolves (11-3-5, 8-2-4 GNAC) for their last game of the season, the Yellowjackets (3-15-0, 2-12-0 GNAC) would not be able to pull off an upset, falling in decisive fashion. An early goal would give Western Oregon the lead just minutes into the match, and after the defense would see out the rest of the first half without conceding another goal, three second half goals would see MSUB drop it's final game of the season in disappointing fashion.
Cesia Swain would attempt one shot, putting her effort on frame for MSUB's lone shot on goal in the game.
Liberty Palmer would shoot once, as would
Alaina Asan. In goal,
Natalie Weinmaster made five saves. The Yellowjackets would be outshot 20-3 in total by the Wolves, and 9-1 in shots on goal.
The Wolves would convert on their first shot of the game, with Kaitlin Taylor slotting home the game's first goal after just 1:58 had elapsed off the game clock. It would set the tone early for Western Oregon, who outshot MSUB 6-1 in total during the first half, including three shots on goal. But Weinmaster would save the Wolves' other two shots on frame in the first half, keeping the Yellowjackets within striking distance heading into halftime. But the second half would not go to plan for MSUB, with Western Oregon threatening to score early with a shot off the crossbar and a shot on goal within the first five minutes of the half before Taylor would score of the second time in the match in the 59
th minute. Swain would threaten with the 'Jackets lone shot on goal shortly thereafter, but Western Oregon goalkeeper Bella Lopez would save her attempt with no issue, and late goals by Olivia Boger and Ally Beavers would add on to the lead for Western Oregon as the home team ran away with the victory.
