BILLINGS, Mont.- The Montana State University Billings golf teams hosted their annual Yellowjacket Invitational the past two days, welcoming nine women's teams and eight men's teams to Lake Hills Golf Course. The Yellowjacket women continued their strong season with a second-place team finish—marking their third podium of the year—led by Orraya Tipasathien's runner-up individual performance.

The MSUB women's "A" team posted rounds of 314 and 317 for a two-round total of 631, just five strokes shy of the team title. The "B" team also impressed, finishing fifth out of 11 teams with rounds of 328 and 325 for a total score of 653. Both teams showed consistency throughout the tournament, leading in total pars (99) and dominating par-three scoring, with the "A" team averaging 3.23 and the "B" team at 3.30.

Tipasathien narrowly missed what would have been her seventh career win, finishing one stroke back after carding a final-round 74 and a 36-hole total of 151. Teammate Ella Tannenberger also challenged for the title early on and ended tied for fifth at 155 (76-79). Next into the clubhouse for the Yellowjackets "A" team was Pygmy Kompoj who tied for 15th, Kyleigh McGowen who tied for 21st, and Rachel Rerick who tied for 28th and shot two-round scores of 164 (86-78), 166 (80-86), and 168 (81-87) respectively.

The "B" team was led by Hanna Boyd, who had a breakout performance with her first career top 10 finish, tying for 10th with a personal-best 161 (82-79). The Adam's sisters finished close behind at 163 (79-84) and 164 (85-79), with Hannah taking 14th place and Haylee tying for 15th. Rounding it out for the women was Emy Cambuzat who tied for 18th at 165 (82-83) and Chloe Van Strien who tied for 41st at 175 (88-87).
On the men's side, MSUB's "A" team turned in back-to-back sub-300 rounds, finishing with a 293 in the final round—its second-best score of the season—and a total of 592, good for a tie for fourth. The "B" team finished seventh with a combined score of 609.

Pete Netrnilweerachot led the Yellowjackets with a career-best performance. The sophomore from Chon Buri, Thailand, shattered his personal records with a 36-hole total of 145 (75-70), tying for seventh. His final-round 70 was two under par and a personal best by three strokes.

Also putting together a quality performance from the "B" team was Ryan Badger who tied for 18th. Badger had an uncanny 77 in the opening round but shaved four strokes off on the second 18 to record his lowest two-round score of the season (150).
