BILLINGS, Mont. – Competing on home soil in the 2025 GNAC Cross Country Championships, the Montana State University Billings men's and women's cross country programs would each see multiple athletes set PR's on the day, as the Yellowjackets rounded into form at the conference meet.
Competing on their home course at Amend Park, the Yellowjackets would see a number of athletes have career days as the team kicked off postseason competition. The women would run a 6K, while the men would compete in an 8K.
For MSUB's women's team, their top three finishers would all set personal best times. Senior
Cecily Eagleton would lead the pack with a time of 23:26.6, placing in 49
th at the meet. Behind her would finish a pair of freshmen, with
Sarah Eichmann finishing with a time of 23:36.3, placing in 52
nd, while
Ally Coey would take 54
th with a time of 23:40.4.
MSUB's point earners would be rounded out by another freshman in
Micah Strong, who would land in 61
st place with a time of 24:02.1, and senior
Toree Manning would take 66
th with a time of 24:38.4. Both runners would finish just seconds off their PR times.
Rounding out the finishers on the women's side,
Chloe Shennum would finish with a time of 24:53.3, taking 69
th place, while
Gabi Becker would take 76
th with a time of 25:22.2. Following them,
Angela Russo would finish in 79
th place with a time of 25:59.3,
Gracyn Rock would place 84
th with a time of 26:47.2, and Emma Waver would finish with a PR time of 26:58.9, taking 85
th.
For the MSUB men,
Will Hyatt would continue to pace the team as the group's top placer, earning a PR and finishing with a time of 26:01.5. Hyatt's time would be good enough to take 45
th place overall. Behind him,
Wyatt May would be the next Yellowjacket to cross the finish line, taking 72
nd place with a mark of 27:48.4.
Lennon Davis would be narrowly behind him in 76
th, finishing in 28:07.2. Rounding out the group would be a PR mark from
Hunter Bailey, who would finish in 28:43.2, taking 81
st.
The Yellowjacket women would place ninth with a team score of 255. The men would finish in tenth.
THE BUZZ: Will Hyatt and
Cecily Eagleton would earn Intermountain Health Athlete of the Meet honors after finishing as MSUB's top finishers.
UP NEXT: Both the MSUB men's and women's cross country teams will race next at the NCAA Division II West Regional Meet, hosted by fellow GNAC school Western Oregon University. The races will take place at the Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, OR, with the women running a 6K and the men running a 10K. Meet information will be made available on the
