WICHITA FALLS, Tex.- The Montana State University Billings women's golf team wrapped up their fall season at the Midwestern State Invitational on Tuesday, finishing 11th overall in a strong 16-team field. In their first 54-hole tournament of the year, the Yellowjackets posted a team score of 942 (308-326-308).

"We closed out our season at a really great event," said head coach Adam Buie. "We had two really good rounds and one disappointing round. The women were able to pick up a few wins over regional opponents, but we were looking for a bit more out of it. This team could be very good; we just have not quite put it all together this year with all five players clicking at the same time. The competition within the team to make the travel roster is going to continue to be tough. I know they are looking forward to some downtime to work on their individual games."

The tournament took place at Wichita Falls Country Club, a 5,822-yard, par-72 course, and featured a competitive field of 95 players and 16 teams—including two ranked in the national top 10 and 10 in the top 75. MSUB, ranked No. 64 nationally, found success on the par threes, finishing fourth in the field with a 3.28 average, and also ranked in the top 10 in total pars with 132.

Leading the way for the Yellowjackets was junior Orraya Tipasathien, currently ranked 17th in the nation and fourth in the West Region. Tipasathien, who boasts a GNAC-leading scoring average of 73.6, delivered a career-best 54-hole performance, shooting 225 (74-75-76) to tie for 14th place overall.

HEAR FROM COACH BUIE: "Jan has had a superb fall leading this team in every single event. She was a little disappointed with her last three holes today but was still as solid as always. Ella posted a great bounce back 72 today after going 78-89 yesterday. Kyleigh posted two rounds in the 70's and was able to tie her MSUB personal best of 75. Hannah Adams was solid on the 36-hole day with back-to-back rounds in the 70's. Hanna Boyd did really well for a freshman playing in a big-time event, she's got a good future ahead of her with her attitude and mentality. Haylee battled each round to post respectable scores as well."

Ella Tannenberger followed Tipasathien on the leaderboard, recovering from an uncharacteristic second-round 89 to shoot an even-par 72 in the final round, finishing tied for 56th at 239. Kyleigh McGowen had a nice outing as well, posting two rounds in the 70's (77-75) to finish tied for 61st at 242. Just one stroke apart, Hanna Boyd (IND) and Hannah Adams had three round scores of 243 and 244, tying for 64th and taking 67th place respectively. Haylee Adams rounded out the lineup with a total score of 253, tying for 78th place.
