BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings women's soccer program and head coach
Abiye Jack announced the signing of seven players to add to the 2024 signing class.
Caysie-Jean Baker, Grace Bittner, Madison Enright, Brittnee Hill, Jamie Maas, Briel Powers, and Cesia Swain become the seven newest members of MSUB women's soccer, set to begin next season with the team. The new additions bring the total of new recruits for Yellowjacket soccer for the 2024 season up to nine, after two signings previously announced in the fall of 2023.
"We are very excited about the future Yellowjackets joining the program this fall," said Jack. "This group is athletic, hardworking, and confident with the ball. Each one loves to compete, and they each bring such a positive attitude to what they do."
Caysie-Jean Baker
Defender
Reno, Nevada
Damonte Ranch High School
Intended Major: Crimonology
Baker joins the Yellowjackets from Damonte Ranch High School, where she was most recently named the Northern 4A Defensive Player of the Year in her senior year, along with a selection to the All-Region First Team, primarily appearing as a center back. Baker also participated in three seasons of volleyball in high school.
Coach Jack on Baker: "Caysie is strong, fast and an overall just a tough defender. She does well in 1v1 situations and is good in the air. She is confident with the ball at her feet and is comfortable dribbling or passing out of the back."
Baker on choosing MSUB: "When I came to visit campus, everyone was nice, and the campus was beautiful. I met the team, and everyone was very welcoming. They made me feel like I was a part of the team before I even committed. I am very excited to further my soccer career at MSUB."
Grace Bittner
Defender/Midfielder
Sherwood, Oregon
Sherwood High School
Intended Major: Undecided
Bittner participated in four years of soccer at Sherwood High School, lettering in two seasons of play. A team captain this past season, Bittner helped lead the program to it's fifth consecutive Pacific Conference 6A Championship in 2023, while being selected as All-Conference Second Team. Bittner has also participated in both Track and Field and Basketball in her high school career, lettering multiple years in both sports.
Coach Jack on Bittner: "Grace is a great athlete and makes excellent decisions. She is very sharp with the ball in possession. Defensively she uses her speed and strength well. She is a natural defender but will likely play a holding midfield role with us."
Bittner on choosing MSUB: "The recruiting process can be very stressful but as soon as I visited MSUB I had a peace about the school. Montana is a very beautiful state and has always been somewhere I wanted to live. I chose MSUB for many reasons, MSUB not only has an amazing soccer program but an amazing education program as well. Billings is an environment that I know will help me thrive on and off the field, and the community and chemistry the girls and coaching staff share really helped set apart the team from other teams. MSU Billings is a very welcoming school, and I cannot wait to be a Yellowjacket this fall!"
Madison Enright
Defender
Battle Ground, Washington
Lower Columbia College
Intended Major: General Studies
Enright previously competed in two seasons of college soccer at Lower Columbia College before making her way to MSUB, playing over 1,400 minutes. A defender, Enright appeared in 17 games in her freshman year, making six starts and helping the Red Devils keep five clean sheets in games she appeared in. She played an even bigger role in 2023, making 14 starts in 19 appearances, keeping the other team off the scoresheet in six games she appeared in. She helped guide the team to a pair of NWCA West Region Championships in both seasons she competed in. Enright has been a team captain for the Red Devils, and earned All-Star First Team honors, along with earning honor roll and dean's list honors. Prior to attending Lower Columbia, Enright graduated from Battle Ground High School, participating and lettering in each of her seasons.
Coach Jack on Enright: "Madison will add experience to the back line. She is a tough defender who is willing to put in a slide tackle or go win the ball out of the air. She is also comfortable passing with both feet in possession play."
Enright on choosing MSUB: "The reason I choose MSUB is because I loved the atmosphere, and everyone was so kind and welcoming when I visited."
Brittnee Hill
Goalkeeper
Arlington, Texas
James Bowie High School
Intended Major: Business
Hill was a four-year letter earner in soccer at James Bowie High School. She made a high-level impact immediately on the team, earning First Team All-District honors in each of the seasons she has completed thus far. Hill has also been a two-year team captain of the Volunteers in her career.
Coach Jack on Hill: "Brittnee has a strong presence in goal and is great in 1v1 situations. She has great handling and is comfortable connecting with the team in buildup play."
Hill on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB for the atmosphere and to learn and grow from these coaches."
Jamie Maas
Midfielder
Washougal, Washington
Washougal High School
Intended Major: Business Administration
Mass has lettered in three seasons of soccer at Washougal High School, racking up awards in each season she's competed in. Maas was a 2A Greater St. Helens League Second Team Selection in 2021 and 2022, before improving to First Team honors in 2023. She was chosen as the team's offensive MVP in 2022 and 2023, and was selected to be a team captain her senior year. In her career for the Panthers, Maas totaled 30 goals and 14 assists across her three years of competition. She also competed in three seasons of track and field, earning all-region honors twice, and lettered in one season of both basketball and cross country. Maas plays club soccer for Columbia Premier SC, winning a State Cup in 2022.
Coach Jack on Maas: "Jamie is an energetic and creative player who can play anywhere in the midfield or forward line. She is always looking to create for herself and teammates and has the fitness levels to maintain that throughout the entire match."
Maas on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because the team made me feel welcome and at home from the minute I stepped on campus. You can tell by spending any time with the team that they strive for a positive culture always. The town and campus were beautiful, and getting to play the sport I love while attending college is a dream come true."
Briel Powers
Forward
Missoula, Montana
Sentinel High School
Intended Major: English
Powers lettered in each of her four seasons at Missoula Sentinel, the only player in her class to do so. The forward was the team MVP in 2023, after earning the most goals on her team and earning all-conference honors. Powers was a pivotal piece up front for Sentinel in their runs to the State AA finals in 2022, and semifinals in 2023, scoring and assisting in quarterfinal matches both seasons. Powers also letters in track and field, where she competes in sprints, recording one of the top 100m times in the school's history, and helped her 4x100 relay team prequalify for state last season.
Coach Jack on Powers: "Briel is going to add strength, pace, and goal scoring ability to the forward line. She can stretch the field vertically or get physical and play back to goal. She strikes the ball well with both feet and is capable of scoring goals from all over the field."
Powers on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I love the idea of staying in Montana for college and playing DII soccer at a program that I know I will love."
Cesia Swain
Midfielder
Spanish Fork, Utah
Gillette College
Intended Major: Communications
Swain joins MSUB after previously playing at Gillette College. She was the team's top goal scorer in 2023, scoring eight goals and grabbing one assist on the year, starting and playing in every minute of the season for the Pronghorns. She was a team captain for Gillette, and was named All-Region Honorable Mention. She was also an All-Region Honorable Mention and team captain in her first collegiate season as a player at Casper Community College, along with winning freshman of the year honors after totaling three goals and two assists. Swain graduated high school in 2022 from Maple Mountain High School, where she competed in four seasons of varsity soccer, where she earned All-Valley honors and was a multi-year team captain.
Coach Jack on Swain: "Cesia is going to add a lot of toughness and experience to the midfield. She is a quick and powerful attacking midfielder who has the ability to score goals with both feet."
Swain on choosing MSUB: "I have chosen to attend MSUB because from the first moment I visited the program, I was pulled in by the dynamics of the team. From the work ethic, on and off the field, to the level of play, I feel like MSUB is a place that I can grow and make a difference. The players and coaches welcomed me from the beginning and made me feel at home. All it took was one visit and I fell in love with the campus and surrounding environment where I will have the opportunity to learn. The soccer coaches' philosophy and views on the game of soccer give me confidence that I will be able to improve and be successful at MSUB. I look forward to growing my skills and knowledge while I help the program find success."
