LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - Highlighting the Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket men's golf team at the SMSU Spring Invitational, Meilyn Armstrong leads the 'Jackets to a 11^th place finish in their 2024 debut with a total gross score of 687 (345-342).
 
Armstrong had a consistent resume in her first tournament of the spring season, shooting a +12 (84) in the opening round and a +14 (86) second, for a 170 total and placing her T-49th overall. Following Armstong was Haylee Adams who placed T-51 among the 74-player field. Adams (Haylee) had a total gross score of 171 (88-83) including the lowest round amongst the Yellowjacket team (83).
 
Also, in T-51 with a 171 gross score (84-87) was Chloe Van Strien. The true freshman not only had a collegiate single round personal best (84) but had her best total score and overall finish in her first spring tournament. Following Van Strien was Hannah Adams who came into the clubhouse with a total of 177 (89-88) in T-59 and rounding it out for the 'Jackets was Adessa Lundberg in 64^th place overall with a two-round total of 183 (97-86).
 
HEAR FROM BUIE: "We are down several players at this point, but we are just trying to focus on getting better individually. We have two more events in beautiful Litchfield Park so, we are going to soak it all in while we can. Wigwam is a great resort in great shape so, we are looking forward to going lower at the next two events."
 
THE BUZZ: Haylee Adams was named Intermountain Health Player of the Tournament after shooting the Yellowjackets lowest round of the tournament (83) and climbing the leaderboard to a T-51^st place overall finish.
 
COMING UP: The Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket women's golf team stays in Litchfield Park, AZ for the SMSU Challenge on March 7-8 at Wigwam Resort Golf Course (Blue).
