PORTLAND, Ore. –
Lucas Howell earned his first career GNAC Player of the Week honor after a T-5 finish and tied his career low (67) in round three at the Battle in the Desert in Borrego Springs, CA.
Howell helped lead the 'Jackets to a 13
th place team finish on a tough course and even tougher field. The Yellowjackets made a late run in round three to best the #3 team in the nation at the time, the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves. Howell shot and even-par 72 in the opening round and a 2-over-par 74 in round two, Howell closed out the event with a 5-under-par 67 which was the best on the day among the 80 golfers. His final round score tied his personal best in competition and was a season low for the 'Jackets.
