PORTLAND, Ore. – Following an impressive week at the plate, Montana State University Billings softball player
Teagan Seeton earned GNAC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
It was the first career Player of the Week honor for Seeton, who was a standout performer for the Yellowjackets all week despite a grueling travel schedule requiring the team to play eight games in five days. The sophomore outfielder had a batting average of .600 over the week's games, going 15-25 at the dish while tallying up six home runs, ten runs, and 12 RBIs. Her staggering stat line moved Seeton into first place in the GNAC for total hits with 27, runs with 22, and home runs with nine, while tying for first place in the GNAC with 19 RBIs.
"Teagan had a phenomenal week at the plate for us," said MSUB head coach
Lisa McKinney. "She continued to flash her power all week with six home runs, but also kept finding ways to get on base and collect runs with singles. She also had a great week in the outfield, highlighted by an outfield assist where she threw a runner out from center at the plate. I'm really proud of her approach and performance this past week."
Seeton opened the week with an impressive Monday showing as the Yellowjackets swept the day in a pair of games against California University of Pennsylvania, and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She hit 3-3 in the first game with two runs and an RBI from a solo home run, before going 1-3 with a two-run shot in game two. That helped spark a run where Seeton would hit a home run in five consecutive games, including a two homer, five RBI performance against Concordia St. Paul. Seeton would also bat a perfect 4-4 in the game against Concordia, setting her career high for most hits in the game. She finished that streak with a home run in the Yellowjacket's conference opener against Western Oregon, going 2-3 in that game with an RBI. She finished off the week going 3-4 in MSUB's first conference win of the season, with a run and an RBI single.
The Yellowjackets (7-16-1, 1-3 GNAC) continue their start to GNAC play with another road trip, heading to Ellensburg to face off in a pair of doubleheaders against Central Washington University on Mar. 15-16. Live coverage for MSUB softball games can be
