GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket baseball team (2-8) dropped the final game of the series to #11 Colorado Mesa University (5-3) with a final score of 10-2 in favor of the Mavericks.
The Mavericks came out hot in game four, posting four runs in the first two innings before the Yellowjackets scratched their first run of the ballgame. In the top of the fourth
Bodee Wright scored on a fielder's choice, hit by
Jack Nehler with
Payton Flynn following that up with a base hit to score
Zack Blaszak and made it a 4-2 ballgame. From that point the Mavericks continued to extend their lead scoring in the fifth, sixth, and seventh inning to reach their total of 10 runs on eight hits.
Cy Miller got the start for the Yellowjackets and was later relieved by
Andy Evans who threw 4.1 innings with two strikeouts and allowed just three hits and four runs. Second out of the pen was
Brian Baker who went 1.1 innings with one strikeout and was relieved by
Kevin McClellan who threw 1.2 innings and allowed just two hits and zero runs.
THE BUZZ:
Bodee Wright was named Intermountain Health Player of the Game after going 2-4 from the plate with a run.
