PORTLAND, Ore. – Following the conclusion of the Montana State University Billings men's track & field team's first week of competition for the 2024-25 season, sophomore
JayCee Herbert was recognized by the conference, earning GNAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
"JayCee had a strong first meet of the indoor season," said head coach
Jonathan Woehl. "Training has been going well and it showed on Thursday. We are looking forward to the rest of indoor and outdoor."
A sophomore from Kinnear, Wyoming, Herbert put up a career best mark in the 60m at the Bobcat Preview last Thursday, finishing in with a time of 6.94 in the 60m to collect his ever first sub-7 second mark. Herbert's time was good enough for fifth place in the meet, and was the top time of all non-D1 competitors in Bozeman on Thursday. Herbert's mark also was good enough to jump into a tie for the second fastest 60m time in program history, matching the 6.94 ran by Kaelen Shay in 2019. Herbert also participated in the 200m, where his 23.46 time finished in eighth at the meet, and was a member of MSUB's 4x400 team that finished in first place at the Bobcat Preview with a time of 3:34.27.
Herbert and the Yellowjackets compete next in the Marauders 2025 Indoor Opener, scheduled for January 18, 2025 in Bismarck at the University of Mary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center.
