Dyauni Boyce Named GNAC Player of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. – Following a trio of standout performances in the Montana State University Billings women's basketball team's final non-conference games of the season, forward Dyauni Boyce was recognized with the GNAC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Monday.
 
The senior from Winifred, MT earned Player of the Week honors for the first time this season, and the third time in her MSUB career after helping to lead the #3 ranked Yellowjackets to a 2-1 record in Las Vegas this past week in a trio if games against fellow top 25 ranked opponents. Across those three games, Boyce averaged 18.7 points, shooting 42.9% from three and making 88.2% of her free throw attempts. She also averaged 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
 
"Dyauni played very well in our three games on our recent Las Vegas road trip against three quality opponents," said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. "Her offensive versatility and ability to score on twos, threes and free throws has been a major key to our team's success all season. Dyauni continues to improve on her rebounding and assist numbers too. She has an amazing work ethic on both ends of the court and her leadership is so important to our team. Dyauni is the type of student-athlete you want to surround yourself with, and I am very fortunate to have her at MSUB."
 
Boyce opened her week as the game's leading scorer in the Yellowjackets narrow defeat to #23 Cal Poly Pomona, tying her season-high with 25 points, shooting 6-11 from three-point range and going 7-8 from the line. She also collected seven rebounds in the game, along with a trio of assists and steals. Boyce followed that up by leading the Yellowjackets in scoring for the second consecutive game, helping MSUB return to the win column in a 57-52 win over #16 University of Texas-Tyler. Boyce collected her second double-double of the season in the win, finishing with 16 points and 11 boards to go with three assists and a steal. She then rounded out the week with another solid performance in MSUB's biggest signature win of the season thus far, a 71-58 victory over #7 Lubbock Christian, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in the victory.
 
Following the conclusion of non-conference play, Boyce is leading the 'Jackets with 14.2 points per game, shooting 37.9% from the field, 37.7% from three, and 86.2% on free throws. She is also averaging 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. Boyce has increased her career scoring total to 1,276 this season, and currently stands 15th on the Yellowjacket's all-time scoring chart.
 
The Yellowjackets (13-2, 2-0 GNAC) are set to jump back into conference play following the beginning of the new year, taking on Seattle Pacific University on January 4 at Alterowitz Gym, with tipoff set for 2 PM. Live coverage for all of MSUB's games can be found online here.
