Christine Funk was selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

This was Funk's second Player of the Week honor as she was selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week following the Yellowjacket Invitational in 2022 and 2023. The junior led the GNAC and ranked fourth in Division II over the weekend with 6.00 digs per set, a figure that was more than 1.5 digs higher than the next closest player in the conference. Funk tallied 108 total digs which ranked first in the GNAC and ranks fourth in Division II as she produced at least 23 digs in all four of the Yellowjackets' games on opening weekend. Funk saved her best statistical performance for last, reaching a career-high 32 digs while adding three service aces against Lubbock Christian on Saturday evening.

"Chris had a great weekend! She was all over the place defensively and she did a great job leading our defense and serve receive," said Yellowjackets head coach Casey Bonner.

Funk and the Yellowjackets (2-2) return to play Friday, September 8
th and 9
th for the Yellow Jacket Classic hosted by Black Hills State University. On September 8
th they take on Northern State University at 10 AM, and Black Hills State at 2 PM. The following day the Jackets square up against the University of Mary at 9 AM, and South Dakota Mines at 3 PM. For more information as they travel to Spearfish, South Dakota and the rest of the season can be found
