                 LA QUINTA, Cali. – The Montana State University Billings men's golf team wrapped up the Battle in the Desert, where 
Dawson Strobel paced the Yellowjacket golfers over the three days.
 
Competing at PGA West Mountain Course over three rounds, Strobel shot a consistent tournament, shooting a score of 221 (74-74-73) over the 72 holes to finish tied for 27
th in a field of 80 golfers. Strobel matched par on 38 of the 54 holes, picking up six birdies and highlighting his final round with an eagle on the par five hole seven.
 
The 'Jackets as a team finished with a three-round score of 898 (298-295-305), finishing in 14
th out of a 17 team field.
 
Paul O'Neil finished tied for 39
th, shooting a 224 (74-74-76) over the tournament. O'Neil finished with four birdies in the tournament, three of them coming in the second round.
 
Carson Garner ended tied for 53
rd after shooting a 228 (73-71-84). Garner had the best round of any MSUB golfer over the three rounds, shooting a 71 and collecting five birdies on Tuesday to finish -1 for the day. It tied for Garner's second best round of the season, and best of the spring.
 
Blake Finn had a score of 232 (77-76-79), tying for 64
th. Finn had three birdies in the tournament. Just behind him in a tie for 66
th was 
Kevin Kolb, who picked up six birdies while shooting 233 (78-78-77).
 
THE BUZZ: Strobel was selected as the St. Vincent Healthcare Golfer of the Tournament.
 
UP NEXT: The Yellowjacket men face a short turnaround, playing in their next tournament on March 6-7 at the Nighthawk Invitational hosted by Northwest Nazarene University. The three round event will take place on the Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, California.
