'Jackets drop match to Simon Fraser

The Montana State University Yellowjacket volleyball team (3-22) faced off against the Simon Fraser University Red Leaf's (14-8). The Red Leaf's proved a tough competition defending their turf at home and taking the win 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-15).

The first set of the match was all Simon Fraser getting ahead to an early 8-3 lead and expanding it throughout the set. The 'Jackets struggled finding consistency on offense in the opening set, only posting six kills and a -0.1 hitting percentage. Simon Fraser capitalized on the Yellowjacket errors, winning the set 25-14.

The second set looked more promising as the 'Jackets opened it with back-to-back points behind the serve of Emma Fa'alogo. Olivia Schwart was leading the charge on offense, posting five kills at this point in the match helping the team post an improved hitting percentage of .121. Even with the success MSUB was finding, the Red Leaf's were still able to take the set 25-16.

The Yellowjackets started the third set playing their best volleyball of the night behind a pair of kills from Schwartz and a pair of blocks by Hannah Hayden. The back-and-forth battle was notched up at 10 all, but Simon Fraser pulled away from there with some impressive offense behind Kalyn Hartman who posted 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage on the night. Simon Fraser was able to complete the sweep, taking the third set 25-15 and winning the match 3-0.
