Box Score The Montana State University Yellowjacket volleyball team (3-21) faced off against the Western Washington University Vikings (8-13). The Western Washington Vikings evened up the series between the two 1-1, winning the match 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-16). Notable performance was junior libero
Christine Funk who cracked the MSUB top-3 in career digs and now sits at 1,222.
After the first meeting of the two squads with the 'Jackets coming out of top, the Vikings came out for blood in the first set of the night. WWU started the game with an 8-0 run and three aces and held an impressive lead for the majority of the set. MSUB did their best to stay in the game behind senior outside hitter
Olivia Schwartz with four kills, but ultimately fell to WWU 25-15.
The 'Jackets got some offense going in the second set behind Schwartz,
Paiten Langston, and
Julia Gordon with 9 kills combined. The Vikings again were impressive across the board with 15 team kills, 3 blocks, and a .394 hitting percentage. Even with the Yellowjacket offense finding some success the Vikings were able to take the set 25-15.
MSUB came out in the third set looking to make a comeback, getting up to an early 6-4 lead. From there it was a true back-and-forth battle showing the most competitive set of the game up to this point in the set. WWU started to pull away behind Karli Tri who had 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage on the night. Behind the Vikings efficient offense, they were able to pull away taking the third set 25-16 and win the match 3-0.
