Kevin Woodin announced the signing of five recruits, who are set to become Yellowjackets in the 2024-25 academic year.
Brooklynn Brennan
Guard
Post Falls, Idaho
Post Falls High School
Intended Major: Undecided
Brennan joins the Yellowjackets from Post Falls High School, where she has lettered in three seasons of basketball under coach Brian Hull. Set to get her final season underway shortly, Brennan averaged 13.6 points per game as a junior, along with 4.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per contest, along with being voted as the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Brennan is a team captain, and is also successful in the classroom, where she is a honor roll student.
Coach Woodin on Brennan: "We are very excited to have Brooklynn join our women's basketball team. She is an explosive guard who can play both guard positions, and I was so impressed with how hard she plays and her ability to get downhill on offense. Brooklynn is also an excellent student and floor leader and comes from a solid high school program and exceptional summer team. She likes to play up tempo and will be an excellent fit for our program."
Brennan on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I believe it will be a great fit for me as a player and as a person. Coach Woodin and the girls made me feel at home, and their culture is something I wanted to be a part of. After my visit, choosing MSUB was an easy choice."
Indie Browning
Guard
Portland, Oregon
Beaverton High School
Intended Major: Health & Human Performance
Coming out of Portland, Oregon, Browning joins the 'Jackets after lettering in three seasons of high school basketball, with her fourth on the way this winter. Browning has earned a 45-11 career record at Beaverton High School, winning a state championship in her 2021-22 season. Browning was selected for the Sixth Woman of the Year award as a sophomore, along with winning the scholar athlete award the same season. As a junior, she earned Most Improved Player honors.
Coach Woodin on Browning: "Indie is an outstanding player and student. Indie's speed and competitive nature really caught Alisha's and my eye. She loves to defend and run the floor and she has the ability to be a lock-down defender. I look for Indie to make an immediate, positive impact on our program. Indie was an integral part of Beaverton's state championship during her sophomore year, and she has continued to improve her game with her incredible work ethic."
Browning on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because of the coaching staff and commitment to excellence every day. The coaches care about your growth on and off the court, and the positive team environment made it an easy decision!"
Katelyn Hamilton
Guard
Columbus, Montana
Columbus High School
Intended Major: Undecided
A Montana native, Hamilton is a multi-sport athlete at Columbus High School, where she has lettered in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She's been a standout in all of them, leading her volleyball team in assists for the past four season while being a team captain, and was selected as the Two-Way Player of the Year for softball. Hamilton's focus in college will remain on the basketball court however, where she has been twice selected as First Team All-Conference, and one time for All-State. Hamilton led Columbus in scoring the previous season, along with team highs in three-pointers, free throws, steals, and minutes. Hamilton is also an exceptional student, having earned Academic All-State each year of her high school career, and has been inducted as a member of National Honor Society.
Coach Woodin on Hamilton: "Katelyn has attended our MSUB summer basketball camps for years and we are pleased she chose to stay close to home and be a Yellowjacket. She is a great perimeter shooter, and she has steadily improved her all-around game over the past two seasons at Columbus. Both Alisha and I were impressed with her team-first attitude and her academic success. Katelyn will play primarily the shooting guard position at MSUB. I am excited to see how her senior year unfolds for the Cougars and then we can't wait to have her join MSUB in the fall of 2024."
Hamilton on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I have grown up watching them and had the goal to one day be on the team since I was a little kid. After attending games and camps, I witnessed the atmosphere of the team and knew that I wanted to be a part of it. I look forward to the challenge of playing at the next level and being coached by Coach Woodin and Coach Breen."
Camryn Koester
Guard/Forward
Cave Creek, Arizona
Cactus Shadows High School
Intended Major: Criminal Justice
Koester has participated in all four years of basketball at Cactus Shadows High School, where she has been a team captain for three seasons. Koester has helped lead her team to a 52-22 record in her career heading into her senior season, and has been a member of three regional championships. Koester was selected to the All-Region First Team twice in her career, and was the All-Region Defensive Player of the Year in 2022-23. She averaged 16.8 points per game and 8.6 rebounds this past season, totaling ten double doubles. Koester also averaged 3.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest.
Coach Woodin on Koester: "We were ecstatic when Cam decided to become a Yellowjacket. Alisha identified Cam first and the more I watched her, the more I understood why Alisha was so high on her. She has the ability to play multiple positions and her versatility and size on the perimeter are definitely strengths of hers. Cam comes from a very successful summer team program and is a tremendous all-around player and student-athlete. I believe Cam will compete for minutes right away and her skill set, and versatility are perfect for what we like to do both on offense and defense."
Koester on choosing MSUB: "When I went to Billings on my official visit, I had no idea what to expect. I was hardly familiar with the area, but something still made it feel like my future home. Pittacus Lore once said, "A place is only as good as the people you know in it. It's the people that make the place." Only being there for less than 48 hours, I could tell MSUB was like a family and the place I wanted to be! Kevin and Alisha were so welcoming and made me confident in my choice to be 1,196.7 miles away from home. Not only that, but my future teammates made me feel as if I had always been a part of the team. I am looking forward to next year and seeing what MSUB has in store for me."
Alli Ligocki
Guard/Forward
Sheridan, Wyoming
Sheridan High School
Intended Major: Undecided
Ligocki joins MSUB from Sheridan High School, where she lettered in four years of basketball under coach Ryan Sullivan. The wing player was an All-Conference and All-State selection in 2022, following an exceptional season where she led her team in scoring at the regional and state tournaments. Ligocki has also participated in four years of tennis, where she was undefeated in her junior season while winning the doubles state title, earning All-State and All-Conference honors while helping to her team to a second-place state finish.
Coach Woodin on Ligocki: "Ali impressed us at our summer camp a few months ago. Like Cam, she is very versatile and can play inside and out. Ali can score in the paint and also step out and be a factor from the perimeter. I really like her leadership ability and she is a great student-athlete. Ali had some of her best games last year in her team's biggest games. I can't wait for Ali to get to MSUB and watch her grow as a player."
Ligocki on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because of the great people and the opportunity to play basketball for another four years. I immediately liked the coaching staff, and the culture of the girls seemed welcoming and hard-working. When talking with the coaches and meeting the players at one of their camps, MSUB felt as if it was the place I needed to be in order for me to grow as a player, but also having a great team culture and working towards something bigger than myself."
