Â

Alahna Lien led off for the 'Jackets, followed by Tolman, and anchored by Berendsen. MSUB finished in 8
th place out of 9 teams competing with a combined time of 26:04.9.

BELLE FORCHE, S.D.- Highlighting the Montana State University Yellowjacket triathlon athletes
Alahna Lien and
Aspen Tolman at the Black Hills Collegiate Cup. For a day originally predicted to be 75 degrees and sunny, it didn't turn out to be that promising. Â Gusting winds, sub-50-degree temperature, and lack of sunshine made it more difficult for the athletes to compete in.
Â
Lien led the way for the Yellowjackets clocked in a swim time of 8:20.5, a bike time of 36:41.3, and a run of 21:41.6. This resulted in a total time of 1:08:17.8 placing her 31st out of the 46 athletes competing. "I thought Alahna competed very well and showed some grit fighting through some back tightness all day," said Coach Woehl. "She was very close to her goal of a sub-21-minute run, and I am just excited to watch her compete in the West Regional Qualifier in a couple weeks."
Â
Following Lien was
Aspen Tolman in 45
th place. In her first solo triathlon event Tolman was able to post a combined time of 1:25:30.6. "Aspen did great," said Woehl. "They both battled choppy waters in the swim, and I am just proud of them both for competing in some blustery weather."
