MISSOULA, Mont. – Two Montana State University Billings cross country runners finished in the top-10 on Friday afternoon at the Montana Open to highlight the team's performance.
Freshman
Kaylee Dalling took eighth place in the women's 5k race, while
Bryant Edgerton took ninth in the men's 8k race to lead the Yellowjackets. "Overall the team continues to get faster," said MSUB head coach Jon Woehl. "Bryant had a strong race and paced well. Wyatt was a little disappointed but he continues to learn how to race and is getting better. Gaven looked strong the whole race, and Kaylee continues to get faster each week. Carey ran well, and it was good to see Kit bounce back with a solid race. Madeline is getting better with her race pacing too, and Aspen and Kylee had strong showings."
Edgerton posted a time of 25:51.8 minutes to crack into the top-10 among the field of 17 participants. Freshman
Wyatt May took 11th place, racing in a time of 26:09.0.
Packed together for the 'Jacket men were
Gaven McColloch,
Kevin Graves, and
Jackson Bailey, who finished in 13th through 15th place. McColloch crossed the line in a time of 26:48.6 minutes, while Graves finished in 28:22.1 minutes and Bailey posted a time of 29:51.0 minutes.
Dalling crossed the line with a time of 19:22.3 minutes to finish in the top half of the field of 20 participants. Freshman
Carey Berendsen took 11th place with a time of 19:46.4, and
Madeline Severson was one spot behind in 12th at 20:01.4 minutes.
Kit Wiersema placed 13th in 20:07.5 minutes, and
Kylee Halpin posted a mark of 20:30.3 to take 14th place.
Also competing for the Yellowjackets were
Aspen Tolman, who took 17th in a time of 20:42.0,
Toree Manning who took 19th in 22:27.3, and
Kendra Woods who placed 20th in 22:46.6 minutes.
THE BUZZ: Dalling and Edgerton were selected as the St. Vincent Healthcare Runners of the Day.
NEXT UP: MSUB hosts the Yellowjacket Open next week on Oct. 7 at Amend Park.
