DUPONT, Wash. –
Adessa Lundberg shot a career-best two-round total of 159 over the weekend at the Saint Martin's Invitational, leading the Montana State University Billings women's golf team at the event which took place at The Home Course.
Lundberg followed an 80 on Friday with a 79 on Saturday on the par-72, 5,852-yard course, and tied for 18th place among the field of 52 players. Lundberg's first round featured nothing worse than a bogey, as she carded 10 pars on her way to a career-low 80 in Round 1 on Friday. She bettered that mark by a single stroke Saturday, with her 79 including a birdie on the par-5, 464-yard 16th hole.
Freshman
Hannah Adams tied for 24th place at the tournament, posting a two-round total of 161 (82-79). After a trying opening nine holes on Friday, Adams settled in and made six pars and just three bogeys on the back-nine to post an 82. The Billings native improved between rounds and broke 80 for the first time in her collegiate career, finishing strong at 1-under-par over her final five holes on Saturday including a birdie on the par-4, 338-yard 13th hole.
Sophomore
Meilyn Armstrong shot a career-best 77 on Saturday, and hinted she was on her way to a good score when she birdied her first hole of the morning – the par-5 16th. Armstrong followed that with 12 pars, and closed out the tournament in a tie for 30th place with a two-round total of 163 (86-77).
Haylee Adams finished in a tie for 36th place, carding a two-round score of 168 (83-85) in her second collegiate event. Adams' lone birdie at the invitational came on Hole 17 on Friday, as she saved a stroke on the par-4, 320-yard hole.
Brennan Larson also competed for the Yellowjackets, finishing in a tie for 43rd place with a two-round total of 176 (91-85). Larson improved by six strokes between rounds, and made seven pars her second time through the course on Saturday.
Western Washington University's Megan Billeter won the tournament, with a two-round score of 1-under-par 143 (73-70). The Vikings claimed the team title with a score of 603 (310-293), holding off second-place Simon Fraser University by five strokes. The Yellowjackets finished in eighth place among the field of nine teams, with a two-round team score of 651 (331-320).
