BILLINGS, Mont. – Announcing its 18-game schedule for the 2022 season on Tuesday, the Montana State University Billings men's soccer team will jump into action in mid-August in preparation for Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
The Yellowjackets kick off the preseason with a scrimmage against Northwest College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Yellowjacket Field, before playing exhibition matches at Carroll College on Aug. 16 and at Rocky Mountain College on Aug. 20.
The regular season kicks off with a home match against University of Providence on Aug. 28 at 4 p.m., before three teams travel to the Magic City for the 7th Annual Rimrock Classic in memory of
Trevor Wildberger on Sept. 1-3. MSUB will face Colorado State-Pueblo and UC Colorado Springs, with Northwest Nazarene University taking on the same two opponents in the GNAC-RMAC clash.
MSUB's non-conference schedule continues with a road trip to Grand Junction, Colo., where it will square off against Colorado Mesa University (Sept. 8) and Fort Lewis College (Sept. 10). The 'Jackets will then host another RMAC foe in South Dakota School of Mines in a midweek tilt on Sept. 14 at Yellowjacket Field.
The double-round robin conference schedule kicks off with home matches against Simon Fraser University (Sept. 22) and Seattle Pacific University (Sept. 24), as the Yellowjackets look to ascend the GNAC standings. MSUB will play each of its six conference opponents twice, including the brand new Western Oregon University men's soccer program in its pilot season.
After three straight home matches to start GNAC play, MSUB will endure a four-match road stretch covering Oct. 6-15 – the longest stint away from Billings of the season. The 'Jackets return for their final three home contests of the year, including Senior Day against Western Oregon on Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m.
The GNAC regular-season champion will earn a berth into the 2022 NCAA D2 West Region Championships. MSUB is under the guidance of first-year head coach
Aaron Champenoy, who will serve as the interim head coach for the 2022 fall season.
