Carey Berendsenberendsen signed
Hometown: Laramie, Wyoming
Previous School: Laramie High School
Event: XC/Distance

An accomplished middle-distance runner from Laramie High School, Carey Berendsen comes to MSUB after qualifying for the Wyoming State High School Athletic Association State Track & Field Championships in a dozen events during her prep career. She capped off her high school career by placing 12th in the 800 meters, 11th in the 1,600 meters and running legs on Laramie's 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays at the state meet. Throughout her senior outdoor track season, Berendsen ran her lifetime personal bests in every event from the 400 meters up to the 1,600 meters.

As a junior in 2021, Berendsen qualified for the state meet in the 800 and the 1,600 meters, plus she led off Laramie's seventh-place 4x800-meter relay team. During indoor season, she placed 13th at the state meet in the 1,600 meters while also helping the Plainswomen's 4x800-meter relay team take fifth. Her 2020 track seasons were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Berendsen made an immediate impact for the Plainswomen as a freshman. She earned all-state indoor track honors after placing 12th in the 800 and the 1,600 meters as a freshman in 2019.

Her outdoor high school bests include a 1:04.94 in the 400 meters, a 2:23.37 in the 800 meters, a 5:30.41 in the 1,600 meters and a 12:24.00 in the 3,200 meters.

During her lone season of cross country in 2021, Berendsen ran her lifetime-best 5K time of 20:12.1 at the 4A West Conference Championships. Her ninth-place finish helped the Plainswomen win a conference title. At the 4A Wyoming State XC Championships, she helped Laramie High School place fifth as a team, while she finished in 21st place with a time of 20:53.73.

In the classroom, Berendsen will be enrolled in the honors program at MSUB.

Woehl on Berendsen: "Carey had an outstanding senior year with personal bests in cross country and both track seasons. She's an outstanding student as well. I'm looking forward to working with her and seeing her compete for a scoring spot on the cross country team this fall."

Alison Jenkinsjenkins signed
Hometown: Billings, Montana
Previous School: Skyview High School
Event: Throws

A Class AA state champion discus thrower, Jenkins comes to MSUB after three successful seasons in the throwing circle for Skyview High School. Jenkins primarily focused on the shot put and the discus throughout her decorated high school career, which included qualifying for the Class AA State Track & Field Championships five times and placing 10th or better in four events. As a junior, Jenkins was the 2021 Class AA state discus champion, plus her fifth-place result in the shot put made her responsible for all of Skyview's points at the state meet.

This past spring, Jenkins threw a personal-best 129-4 in the discus to win the Billings City Meet – one of her six wins on the season. After a runner-up finish in the discus at the divisional meet, Jenkins took third place at the MHSA Class AA State Track & Field Meet; she would also place eighth in the shot put at state.

Although her sophomore track season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jenkins showed promise as an underclassman in 2019 by being the only freshman to qualify for the state meet in the shot put.

Jenkins will be the third Skyview alumna on the women's track roster this season alongside sophomore thrower Danara Tulimaiau and fellow true freshman distance runner Toree Manning. Outside of track and field, Jenkins played one year of junior varsity basketball at Skyview.

Woehl on Jenkins: "She is a proven competitor and will make a great addition to our throws crew and track and field team. I'm looking forward to her working with [Throws coach] Nels Flanagan on the discus, where she can make an immediate impact at GNACs."

Jenkins on choosing MSUB: "I decided to join MSUB because of its great business and athletic programs. My mother attended MSUB and graduated from MSUB, so I'm excited to follow in her footsteps."

Jaydan MacGillivraymacgillivray signed
Hometown: Shepherd, Montana
Previous School: Shepherd High School
Event: Sprints/Jumps

A three-year varsity sprinter and jumper, Jaydan MacGillivray will join rising sophomore thrower Faith Ekness as the second Shepherd High School product on the MSUB track and field program this fall. MacGillivray specializes in the 400 meters, but has also competed in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, plus the high jump and the long jump.

As a senior this past spring, MacGillivray ran his personal best time in the 400-meter dash, plus he anchored Shepherd's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. He helped the Mustangs place 16th in the 4x400-meter relay at the MHSA Class B State Track & Field Meet, plus he had top-10 finishes in the 400 meters, the long jump and both relays at the divisional meet.

MacGillivray qualified individually for the state meet for the time in his career as a junior, placing 10th in the long jump with a season-best jump of 19-1. He also ran legs on Shepherd's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays at the state meet.

In 2019, MacGillivray was the only freshman on Shepherd's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays – both of which placed 11th or better at the state track and field meet.

Outside of track and field, MacGillivray was a power forward for four years on Shepherd's boys' basketball team, plus he ran cross country for one year. In his lone year of running cross country as a junior, MacGillivray ran six races for the Mustangs.

Woehl on MacGillivray: "I'm excited to have another Shepherd grad joining us! He has a tremendous amount of potential – in fact I remember seeing him jump as a freshman when working long jump at a Skyview High School meet a few years back."

MacGillivray on choosing MSUB: "I have gotten to meet the team and the coaches and I've enjoyed every part of it. I already feel part of the team with all of the support."
