BILLINGS, Mont. – For the fifth-straight season, the Montana State University Billings women's track and field team was named a NCAA Division II All-Academic team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.
The 37 Yellowjackets had a cumulative grade point average of 3.27 during the 2021-22 academic year. To earn the award, teams had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eight Great Northwest Athletic Conference schools also earned the award.
This award is the third academic honor for the MSUB women's track and field team. Earlier this season, nine track and field athletes
made the GNAC's All-Academic team and seven women
earned the conference's Faculty Athletic Representative Scholar-Athlete honors. Individually, sophomore health and human performance major
Brynn Jolma – who qualified for the conference track meets in the weight throw and the javelin – had the team's highest GPA with a 4.0.
The USTFCCCA honored more than 100 schools for their academic efforts on Wednesday. Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member Minnesota State was the NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year, whereas West Texas A&M was named the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year.
