BILLINGS, Mont. – Announcing the latest additions to his program for the 2022 fall season on signing day Wednesday, Montana State University Billings women's soccer head coach
Stephen Cavallo introduced three high school commitments.
Billings West's Sophie Sievertsen, Lauren Becraft of Eugene, Ore., and Alyssa Bosworth of Clovis, Calif., each signed their letters of intent to join the Yellowjacket program next year. "We are excited to welcome these three into our program," said Cavallo. "We believe that Alyssa, Lauren, and Sophie will fit perfectly into our style of play on the field as well as be fantastic culture players off the field. There is a lot of talent in this initial group and the addition of these three only makes our program better."

Sievertsen capped her prep career by leading the Bears to the 2021 state title this fall, as she earned her fourth letter as a midfielder. The local product was a three-time all-state selection, and captained the team in her junior and senior seasons. She totaled 24 goals and 25 assists playing primarily as an attacking midfielder under head coach Rob Zimmerman, and earned the sportsmanship award in 2021. Sievertsen was a four-time academic all-state selection as well.
Coach Cavallo on Sievertsen: "Sophie is a very technical midfielder with fantastic soccer IQ. She has fantastic vision and has the ability to pick a great pass. She will help create a lot of chances for our forwards. She has grown up around the program so it is awesome to add her to the team."
Sievertsen on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because of the family-like community and positive atmosphere. I wanted to play soccer at a competitive level where I knew the coaches would have my best interests and would push me to be the best I can be. I have lived in Billings my whole life and have grown up watching the MSUB soccer team. The players at MSUB have had a positive influence in my life and I look up to all of them a lot. I want to stay in Billings to be able to have a positive influence on young kids in the community, because I know how important that is. MSUB has so much to offer me academically and athletically and I am beyond excited for the journey."
Lauren Becraft
Defender
Eugene, Oregon
North Eugene High School
Intended Major: Pre-Nursing
Becraft comes to the Yellowjackets after helping her North Eugene High School team reach the Oregon Class 5A state semifinals this fall. The Highlanders went 13-1-2 overall and allowed six goals in 16 matches with Becraft playing on the back line. She also scored nine goals – seven coming on corner kicks – and provided three assists from her center back position.
The Midwestern League Player of the Year is a three-time all-conference selection and is up for the state's top defensive player award. She is also a four-time honor roll member and carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average. In addition to her soccer career, Becraft participated on the basketball team as a forward and as a javelin thrower on the track and field team for four years.
Coach Cavallo on Becraft: "Lauren is a versatile defender who can play centrally or out wide. She is a tough defender that has all the characteristics needed to be a good center back in our program – strong 1v1 defending, technically sound to help in build out play, and tough as nails. We are looking forward to everything Lauren is going to bring to our program."
Becraft on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB because I felt like it was academically and athletically a great place for me to succeed. I admire the winning spirit and commitment to academics that the team has. My visit to MSUB felt like my home away from home."
Alyssa Bosworth
Forward
Clovis, California
Clovis East High School
Intended Major: Psychology
Bosworth is a four-year starter on the varsity soccer team at Clovis East High School under head coach Tony Badella. Her accolades include an offensive player of the year award, and she was a four-time NorCal state cup champion. Bosworth also competed with the Crossfire Girls Academy League team in addition to her prep career with the Timberwolves.
Coach Cavallo on Bosworth: "Alyssa is a proven goal scorer that will add to our attack. She is strong, quick, and can shoot well with both feet. She will come in ready for the college game and we cannot wait to see her celebrating goals at MSUB."
Bosworth on choosing MSUB: "I chose MSUB for many reasons: Their education opportunities, the atmosphere, the welcoming team and coaches, how accommodating the campus is, and how much they value me as a person and a player. I am so excited for the next step of my life at MSUB. My excitement to learn, for all the new memories with people I will get to know, and to improve as a person and player through these next few years. The coaching staff has never let me down and has always made me feel welcome and wanted. The players have always been there for me and welcoming me with open arms."
The Yellowjackets completed their 2021 season on Saturday, finishing the year 7-9-3 overall and 4-8-2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play to take sixth place.
