BILLINGS, Mont. – Five Montana State University Billings men's basketball players scored in double-figures and all 15 players on the roster logged minutes as the Yellowjackets beat the MSUB alumni team 102-49 on Friday, Oct. 22.
Â
"It's great to be back," MSUB head coach
Mick Durham said. "I thought the guys played great. We had some good energy, and playing a live game with refs was something we really needed to see."
Â
The current Yellowjacket team had a balanced scoring outing, as
Damen Thacker,
Bilal Shabazz and
Nicholas Sebastiao led the way for the current 'Jackets with 12 points apiece.
Malik Brikat nearly had a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds, while sharpshooter
Jaren Fritz came off the bench to add 11 points on 4-9 shooting. Of the five MSUB players in double-figures, four of them are newcomers to the team this season; Sebastiao, who was a freshman during the shortened 2020-21 season, was the exception.
Â
"We've got some guys who haven't played in a long time," Durham said. "We have 15 guys on the roster, so getting a look at all 15 was good."
Â
As a team, MSUB had 26 assists – including a team-high five dimes from transfer guard
Jo Jones, who also chipped in nine points.
Â
Current MSUB women's basketball graduate assistant
Sven Jeuschede ('19) led the MSUB alumni team with 12 points and two assists. Jordan Lehrer ('20) added 11 for the alumni on 5-of-10 shooting. Both players were coached by Durham, who enters his fourth season at MSUB this year.
