LAS VEGAS – University of Texas Tyler went 5-0 and claimed tournament champion honors in the 11
th annual Desert Stinger softball tournament, hosted by Montana State University Billings at Majestic Park in Las Vegas, Nevada. Texas Tyler narrowly edged out UC San Diego on run differential, who also went undefeated in the three-day competition.

First baseman Serena Saldivar (Texas Tyler) was named the tournament's most valuable player. Saldivar helped UT Tyler clinch the title and hit .750 through five games with nine hits, seven runs scored, three home runs, and 11 runs batted in. She also drew seven walks and held a 1.500 slugging percentage, which topped the tournament.

In addition to Saldivar, Tristin Anders and pitcher Payton Foster was selected all-tournament for UT Tyler. Anders had seven hits, five runs, three doubles, one triple, and one home run with 11 runs batted in. University of California San Diego took second place and were the only other team to go 5-0 in the Desert Stinger. Keila Bosinger and Robyn Wampler made the all-tournament team for the Tritons. Bosinger hit .471 with eight hits, three home runs, 11 runs batted in, and three runs scored. Wampler pitched a pair of complete games and held a 1.40 earned run average and 0.93 WHIP over 15.0 innings. Wampler picked up a pair of wins and had one save as opposing hitters held a .213 average against her over three appearances.

Northwest Nazarene University posted the strongest showing among Great Northwest Athletic Conference schools. Ivy Hommel helped NNU go 4-1 after hitting .688 and a 1.688 OPS. Hommel also had eight runs scored, 11 hits, one double, one home run, and six runs batted in. She walked four times and stole two bases with a .938 slugging percentage.

Oklahoma Christian University scored double-digit runs in four out of five games, including a 12-0 win over Regis University Saturday. Jaiden Johnson knocked in 13 runs and hit .625 with 11 runs scored, 10 hits, two doubles, three home runs, and 13 runs batted in. Teammate Lindsey Stoeckel smashed three home runs and held a .533 batting average with three home runs, 12 runs batted in, eight hits, and six runs scored.

Two players from Saint Martin's University (4-1) were selected, including Emily Norwood and Brandi Schoessler. Hannah Self hit .500 with three home runs for Concordia University. Sonoma State's Jordyn Martinez made the list as a catcher with six hits, six RBI, one walk, and two home runs. Second baseman Logan Carlos (Western Oregon) hit .429 with a .714 slugging percentage. Carlos knocked six hits with one double, one home run, and four runs batted in. Kacie Burger represented Colorado Christian after hitting .600 with eight runs, nine hits, one double, four home runs, nine runs batted in, and five walks.
