LAS VEGAS. –
Kelsey Devlin was named to the 2017 Desert Stinger all-tournament team as the MSUB softball team wrapped up its final day of competition during the opening-season event at Majestic Park.
The Yellowjackets had just one game on the day, dropping a 9-0 decision to Chico State (5-0), finishing the opening three days of the season with a record of 1-4.
Montana State University Billings had three hits and three errors in the game against the Wildcats.
Heather Tracy,
Megan Dettling, and
Myrissa Prince each recorded a hit for MSUB.
Chico State had 12 hits in the game led by three from Ari Marsh.
Taylor Tokach opened the game in the circle for MSUB tossing three innings giving up six runs on six hits.
Maddy Lincoln came into the game for the final three innings, finishing with six hits and two earned runs.
MSUB struggled to find its way in the fifth game of the tournament against a tough Chico State team. The Yellowjackets left two runners on base while Chico State had eight.
Devlin, a senior from Great Falls, Mont., finished the three days with six hits, seven RBI's, and three home runs. She scored four runs, had one double, and just one strike out.
With an undefeated record and 37 points out of a possible 40, Humboldt State won the tournament title. MSU Billings finished 20
