ANCHORAGE, Alaska. – MSU Billings dropped its first conference road match of the season to No. 11 Alaska Anchorage in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-13).
The Yellowjackets travelled to Alaska for the first of two Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches this week starting off with the nationally-ranked Seawolves.
Alaska Anchorage rolled in straight sets over MSUB, needing just over an hour to complete its 12
th straight win of the season keeping the Seawolves at a perfect 12-0 and 4-0 in the GNAC. Montana State University Billings drops to 1-10 on the season, and 0-3 in the conference.
The Seawolves kept it tight and clean across the board, dominating the 'Jackets across the net and in the back court. The team hit .363 for the match (39-10-18), combined with 9.0 blocks, and 39 digs in the win. MSU Billings was limited to -.060 (17-22-83) and the team combined for a total of 27 digs.
"Anchorage is a great team and did a great job taking away our favorite shots," MSUB head coach
Lisa Axel said. "We need to get better making adjustments during matches and staying aggressive."
Junior outside hitter
Ashlynn Ward was the bright spot for the Yellowjackets finishing with six kills.
Senior setter
Kyndal Williams had 16 of the teams assists.
Kimmy Kirk ended the night with a team-high 10 digs.
The No. 11 Seawolves spread their offense out as four players finished with more than seven kills. Leah Swiss had a big night, leading the team in kills (9), digs (10), and service aces (6). Caitlin Hanson was a force at the net finishing with six blocks while setter Morgan Hooe had a match-high 30 assists.
