BILLINGS, Mont. – Announcing the fourth signing for the 2015-16 season on Tuesday, Montana State University Billings men's basketball head coach
Jamie Stevens welcomed Sven Jeuschede of Roesrath, Germany to the Yellowjackets' program.
Jeuschede is a 6-foot-3 guard who spent his prep career in the Nachwuchs Basketball Bundesliga (NBBL) on a variety of different teams.
"Sven will be a nice addition to our program," Stevens said on his latest signing. "From what we know about him, he has played at a very high level of competition for the last few years and that experience should help him adjust to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. He also played for one of the best youth programs in Germany."
During the 2014-15 season, Jeuschede played in 28 games and averaged 8.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 26.1 minutes for the Hertener Lions. Jeuschede also spent time with the Urspring Basketball Academy and Bayer Leverkusen, where he averaged 20 games and upwards of 22 minutes in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
Possessing a diverse skillset, Jeuschede has fit in naturally both as a point guard and as a shooting guard in a wide variety of offensive sets. "From what we have seen, Sven is a versatile guard who can handle the ball well enough to play the lead guard and can shoot it well enough to play off the ball," Stevens said. "He has good size for a guard as well."
In addition to his durability and high minute totals, Jeuschede has proven to be a facilitator as well, averaging nearly two assists per game over the past three seasons.
"Most importantly, Sven plays hard and is really excited about the opportunity to join the program here at MSUB," Stevens said.
"I chose MSUB because it has a good academic program and the GNAC is a good and competitive league to play in," said Jeuschede. "MSUB gives me a good opportunity to develop as a student and as a basketball player as well. Additionally, Montana is an interesting and nice place to live from what I have heard."
Jeuschede joins three other recruits who have comprised the Yellowjackets' 2015-16 class. Most recently, Stevens inked transfer forward Emmanuel Olufemi from Miles Community College. Cade Alcorn (Fresno, Calif.) and Preston Beverly (Wildomar, Calif.) are two more forwards who have committed to MSUB out of high school for next season.
