Billings, Mont. – Montana State Billings women's soccer team had a tough day at the office, as No. 4 ranked Western Washington University controlled the match from start to finish, capturing the 4-1 victory. The Yellowjackets fall to 2-1-1 overall, and 1-1 in the GNAC.

"Obviously we are disappointed with the outcome today," stated head coach Wojtek Krakowiak. "Western is a well-coached team which is dangerous going forward. We need to move on and look forward to our upcoming match."

The Vikings allowed their first goal of the season, an own goal, as the goalkeeper overplayed the pass from the defender (28:35). Other than the own goal Western controlled the match, not allowing MSUB to take a shot in the first half.

Catherine Miles, opened the game up in the 15th minute scoring the game's first goal from five yards out in a scramble around the net. Brina Sych was credited with the assist. With the 1-0 lead, the Vikings allowed the own goal bringing the scored to an even 1-1 all tie.

Western Washington didn't panic and continued to control the tempo and possession of the match and broke the tie right before the half, as Erin Russell hit a shot from 15 yards out, skimming past the outstretched arms of Kaylee Kimmet (42:08).

The Vikings owned the 2-1 lead at the half.

MSUB's offense found some rhythm in the second half and ended the contest taking five shots which all landed on goal.

Western's defense completed their strong attack and neutralized the Jackets' opportunities, recording four saves on the day.

The Vikings added goals in the 82nd and 88th minute for good measure and cruised to their fifth victory of the season. Western Washington faces Western Oregon on Sept. 26 for their next bout.

Kimmet fought hard all afternoon at keeper and finished the day with five saves, facing 17 shots.

Next on the agenda for MSU Billings is an away contest against conference rival Seattle Pacific University on Sept. 26.
