The sixth inning would prove to be the turning point in the match as, Missouri Southern scored nine runs to give them the 10-2 lead. The Jackets' Fosnes brought Orrin Pyrah home in the seventh on a double he blast to left center. MSUB would not be able to complete their late game heroics and would go on to lose their first game of the season.

Game 2: MSSU 7 MSUB 4

Missouri Southern jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning, which proved to be the deciding factor in the contest despite outplaying the opposition for the majority of the contest. The Yellowjackets scored two runs in the second and fourth, but stalled in the later innings, allowing the Lions to hold off their comeback attempt.

In the second, Mack Unruh tripled to bring Loran across the plate and Brad Birch forced a fielder's choice to bring Loran home. Birch hit the first homerun of the 2013 season in the fourth, which also brought Unruh in to give MSUB their fourth run of the contest.

Following their six runs in the first, Sam Ryan singled through the left side, driving Michael McCoy home to give Missouri Southern their seventh run of the game. The Yellowjackets had one hit and one left on base in the seventh as the Lions went on to claim their second victory of the Metrodome Classic.

MSUB out hit their opponent 8-6; with Unruh having the best day at the plate, finishing 2-3 while recording one run batted in.

On the mound, Tanner Watson started for the Jackets and struck out two batters in his 3.2 innings. Lee Busto and Travis Vincent also saw action on the mound, with each recording a strikeout. Lee pitched 2.1 innings and Vincent 1.0.

“We played 12 solid innings today,” stated third year head coach Rob Bishop. “Unfortunately the two big innings that we gave up cost us our opportunity to win games today. We will make some adjustments and comeback Sunday ready to go.”
