Rocky Rivalry Continues on Monday


BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings Women's basketball team will face Rocky Mountain College at home in their second meeting of the season on Monday Nov. 25.
 
The two teams' last meeting was a preseason exhibition game early this month on Nov. 5 at the Fortin Center on the campus of Rocky Mountain College.  Last time the two teams met it was a one-sided contest as MSU Billings controlled the tempo from the get-go, leading by as much as 34 points and getting the win with a score of 90-58.
 
Kayleen Goggins was the high-scorer for the Yellowjackets with 19 points.  Bobbi Knudsen had 17 points and a team-high eight rebounds and nine assists.  Janiel Olson added 12 points and six rebounds.  MSUB shot 50 percent from the field, 32 percent from the three-point arc, and 91 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Brittany Myers led the Battlin' Bears with 18 points and six rebounds.  Mya Perrow-Donovan had 10 points and Jayde LeFevre had nine.  Rocky had a team shooting percentage of 36 percent – 26 percent from three-point range and 57 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Since Nov. 5, the Yellowjackets are 3-2 on the season and 0-0 in conference play.  MSU Billings traveled to Anaheim, Calif. to take part in the Disney Classic Tip-Off Nov. 8-10, where they faced some extremely tough competition. The team battled hard, but took the loss against the University of Indianapolis, lost a tight contest against Pittsburgh State, but then finished up the tournament with a victory against Cal State East Bay.  MSUB got the win in their home-opener against Chadron State College, and then last Friday night against the University of Great Falls the 'Jackets topped 100 for the first time this season getting the win 102-78.
 
The Bears are still 1-0 since Nov. 5.  They won their game against Walla Walla University in an early contest on Oct. 25, and since then have played the exhibition game against MSUB, and then an exhibition game Nov. 22 against the Oglala Lakota College where they topped 100, winning the game 105-37.
 
Tomorrow's contest will be the third game in eight days against a Montana school for the Yellowjackets.  This week MSUB will also face Montana State University Northern at home in an early game on Wednesday Nov. 27 at 5:30 PM.
 
Monday's game between MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College will be a counted game for the Yellowjackets.  Doors open at six, the game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM.  Live video and live stats will be available at MSUBSports.com
