Rocky, MSUB to Clash at Alterowitz

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Montana State University Billings Men's Basketball team welcome Rocky Mountain College to Alterowitz Gym Saturday, Nov. 20th for the 167th installment between the two rivals.

It was no less than 21 days ago that the Jackets made the trip over to Rocky in a game that ended with Rocky on top 104-101.

MSUB is 50-29 all-time in Alterowitz Gymnasium against the Battlin' Bears and hold an 87-80 lead all-time.

The first meeting was a fast paced, back and forth physical game with a total of 50 fouls committed. There were eight lead changes and three ties throughout the game. MSUB also forced twelve turnovers that led to 22 points while RMC forced nine which led them to 14 points off of turnovers.

The Jackets had five players hit double figures, Connor Donaldson had a team high 22 points (and a team high seven rebounds), followed by Jonathan Mesghna who had 20, Chase Miller went for 18, Danny Desin had 14 and Kalob Hatcher had 13.

Overall the Jackets shot 53.8 percent from the field, they were 5-18 from behind the arc for a 44.1 percent three point percentage and made 61.1 percent, 11-18, free throws on the night.

The Bears were led by Jeremy Nicolas who had a game high 30 points to go with five rebounds. Four other RMC players had double digits in the game. The bears shot 58.9 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from behind the arc and 79.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Since that meeting MSUB is now 1-3 having lost to the University of Montana Western, South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State but having beat Carroll College. Rocky is 3-2 having played two games since last playing MSUB. They fell to both Concordia and Cal State San Marcos.

Mesghna leads the Jackets in scoring averaging 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game followed closely by Kalob Hatcher who averages 13.5 and 5.2 assists per game.

"Anytime you're having some struggles, the best thing for your team and program is to get back to the gym and get to work," Head Coach Jamie Stevens said. "It will be a great challenge for our team and we look forward to the opportunity to play again."

The game is slated to being at 7:00 P.M. with doors opening at 6:00 P.M. The Student Activities Board will be holding a free tailgate beforehand. The game is sponsored by Cellular Plus. Visit any local Cellular Plus store and pick up two for one tickets.
