Volleyball to Host Seattle Pacific
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings' Volleyball team will host conference opponent Seattle Pacific University on Saturday November 2.
This will be the second meeting between the two schools this season; SPU swept MSU Billings in three sets on October 5 in Seattle.
Montana State Billings will try to snap a seven-game conference losing streak as they host a red-hot Seattle Pacific team.
MSU Billings is going into the match coming off a win over cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets hosted the Bears for a rematch from earlier in the season where Rocky took the contest in three sets. Freshman
Stormy Siemion had her third double-double in a row and a new career-high in kills with 22 as Montana State Billings outhit Rocky 64-48 on "Think Pink" night at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
Another freshman,
Ashlynn Ward, was second on the attack for MSUB; she had 16 kills and a team best .294 hitting average.
Monica Grimsrud is leading the Yellowjackets and is currently 11
th in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) in kills per set with 2.87.
Chelsey Walter is second on the team and 16
th in the GNAC with a 2.63 kill per set average.
Kyndal Williams continues to lead the Yellowjackets in assists; she had 51 in the game against Rocky, one shy of her season-high of 52, which she recorded twice in earlier season games. Williams now has 658 on the year and 1619 career which puts her at sixth all-time at MSU Billings. She is also fifth in the conference with a 9.08 average per set.
Last time out Seattle Pacific limited the Yellowjackets to a .010 hitting average.
Krista Norris had a big game for MSU Billings; she had a team-high 14 kills.
Chelsey Walter had seven.
Seattle Pacific is on a four-game conference-winning streak, including against No. 10 Western Washington. Two weeks ago the Falcons took out Western Oregon in five, then a three-game sweep of Saint Martin's. Last week it was two road victories; first against nationally-ranked Western Washington and then Simon Fraser in four.
Madi Cavell is leading the SPU offense. She had 22 kills and 15 digs last Thursday at Western Washington, then followed with 24 kills and 14 digs at Simon Fraser on Saturday earning her GNAC Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 24-26.
