SEATTLE – The Montana State University Billings' volleyball team fell to Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponent Seattle Pacific University in three sets on Saturday, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14.
Seattle Pacific is now 7-6 (3-2 GNAC) as Montana State Billings moves to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
In the first set, Seattle Pacific pulled away from a 12-10 advantage to go on a run that led to the 25-18 score. The second set featured six lead changes, and 13 ties, while in the third set SPU led the game early, never giving up the advantage.
Seattle Pacific put up a .212 attack percentage while Montana State Billings had .010 for the match. The Falcon attack was led by Madi Cavell who put up 12 kills in the match, Nikki Lowell was second with nine (season-high .615 hitting percentage) and Ellie Britt with six. In assists, Sara Biondi dished up 16 and Kendall Langdon finished with 12.
For Montana State Billings,
Krista Norris led the team with a match-high 14 kills.
Chelsey Walter put down seven in the match. Kendall Williams put up 25 assists.
For the Falcons, Lowell led the team in block assists with seven while Britt pitched in with four. At the net for the Yellowjackets,
Mikara Ostermiller led the team with three.
On the defensive side, Seattle Pacific's Brianna Leenders led both teams with 14 digs. Norris and
Sydney Oberstein both came in at eight digs for Montana State Billings.
On the service court, Seattle Pacific put up a season-high best of nine aces (Cavell with four), while Montana State Billings had a team total of four (
Monica Grimsrud with two.)
