Vikings Take Charge of Yellowjackets

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Montana State University Billings' Volleyball team was swept in straight sets by #8 Western Washington on Saturday 10-25, 19-25, and 18-25.
 
Western Washington recovers from a two-game losing streak to move to 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
 
The Vikings hit .315 in the match and had two players in double digits with Kayla Erickson at 13 kills and Kelsey Moore with 11.  Emily Boerger had 8, Jennica McPherson 7, and Rachel Roeder contributed 7 as WWU outhit Montana State Billings 46-31 in kills.
 
Taylor Dillard had all but one of the 43 assists for the Vikings; Boerger had the other.
 
Samantha Hutchinson had a team high 18 digs for WWU.  Bryce Larson had 12 and Emily Cotter came in with seven.
 
Stormy Siemion had her second double-double in a row as she led MSU Billings (3-16, 1-10 GNAC) in attacks with 10 and tied for the most digs with 11 in the match.  WWU held MSUB to a .119 attack percentage as Monica Grimsrud had eight kills and 2 block assists while Chelsey Walter had seven kills and was in on 2 blocks.
 
Kyndal Williams led Montana State Billings in assists with 23; she also had six digs for the Yellowjackets.
 
Sydney Oberstein co-led MSUB's defense as she came up with 11 digs.  Krista Norris contributed 10.
 
Next week MSU Billings returns home for a pair of matches.  They will play a non-conference match against Rocky Mountain College on Tuesday October 29 and then return to conference play on Saturday November 2 as they take on Seattle Pacific.  Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.  Live video and live stats can be found at MSUBSports.com.
