Burnaby, BC. - The Montana State University Billings Women's Soccer team snapped their three game losing streak defeating Simon Fraser University 3-0 Saturday.
Through most of the first half was scoreless, the Yellowjackets got on the board late when
Jessie Mancilla scored unassisted in the 39th minute on a shot from 30 yards outside the box to give MSUB the 1-0 lead going into the second half.
The Jackets would open up the scoring in the second half when in the 51st minute
Aubrey Briscoe scored from nine yards out with
Jennifer Johnson getting the assist.
Heidi Greenback scored MSUB's final goal of the game in the 60th minute when she scored by tipping in
Chelsea Shuman's corner kick. It is Greenback's sixth goal of the season.
"We played really well today as a team," Head Coach
Wojtek Krakowiak said. "We connected a lot of passes and were dangerous going forward. Our defense did a good job of limiting them with shots on goal. Credit Jess who scored a great goal from 30 yards. We are looking forward to WOU on Thursday."
MSUB outshot SFU 9-7 and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage. Jackets goalie
Krystal Daniels had two saves on the day.
With the win MSUB improves to 5-7-2, 4-6-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference and SFU drops to 1-11-2, 1-9-2 in GNAC play.
The Jackets are next in action Oct. 31 against Western Oregon University at Yellowjacket Field in Billings.
