Men’s Basketball Ready to Face Falcons on the Road, Ninth in Region

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University men's basketball team split their final two-game home-stand last week and will now look to play their final three games of the regular season on the road, starting this Saturday in Seattle, Wash. against Seattle Pacific University.
 
Last week, the Yellowjacket men dropped their home game on Thursday, Feb. 9 99-89 to Central Washington University but then followed that up by defeating Northwest Nazarene University 83-73 on Saturday, Feb. 11 which served as the 'Jacket men's “Senior Night.”
 
The men are now 14-9 overall and are currently ranked ninth in the first NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Region poll of the season. MSUB is also 9-6 in conference action and are sitting fifth in the GNAC standings.
 
The Yellowjackets are currently averaging a GNAC second-best 82.2 points per game, second only to Central Washington's 82.5. MSUB is also second in the league in free throw percentage, hitting 76.3% of their attempts from the charity stripe.
 
The men are currently shooting .442 from the field led by senior guard Antoine Proctor. The Washington, D.C. native is currently second in the GNAC with 19.3 points per game and has scored a league second-best 444 points this season.
 
Proctor is currently fourth on the team with a .420 shooting percentage and has hit 45 three-pointers so far this season. He leads the squad with 52 total steals so far this season and averages 4.8 rebounds per game.
 
Behind Proctor, Jaxon Myaer, Robert Mayes and Taylor Stevens are all averaging double-digit points. Myaer is second on the team with 14.1 points per game, but leads the team with 103 assists and a .470 shooting average from the field. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah also, Myaer also leads the team with 66 treys this season and a .434 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
 
Mayes continues to lead the Yellowjackets under the net with 7.2 rebounds per game and the Houston, Texas native leads the team with 27 blocked shots this season. Mayes is currently averaging 11.1 points per outing and is shooting .441 from the field.
 
Stevens is right on Mayes' heels as he averages 11.0 points per game and is third on the team with 4.8 rebounds per contest. He is shooting a team third-best .420 along with Proctor and has made 44 treys this season.
 
Seattle Pacific is currently averaging 69.1 points per game, but are holding their opposition to just 58.5 points per contest. The Falcons are led by David Downs' 15.2 points per game and .461 percentage from three-point range. He is currently second on the team in shooting percentage (.470) and steals (22) but also leads the team with 90 assists.
 
Andy Poling and Job Wall are both averaging double-digit points as well with Poling averaging 14.7 points per game while Wall knocks down 11.5 points per outing. Poling leads the team from the field with a stout .514 shooting percentage.
 
Following Saturday evening's game, the men will close out their regular-season with a pair of games at Simon Fraser University and 10th-ranked Western Washington.
