Volleyball Falls to Wildcats 3-0 on the Road

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Montana State University Billings volleyball team's road struggles continued Saturday night at Nicholson Pavilion as they lost 3-0 to Central Washington University 25-9, 25-15 and 25-15.

With the loss MSUB falls to 6-5, 0-2 in Great Northwestern Athletic Conference play while the Wildcats improve to 7-4 overall and are now 2-2 in the GNAC.

“It was another disappointing loss,” said head coach Steve Smith. “We knew it would be a tough match in a tough environment, but we still did not play particularly well tonight and it showed. Hopefully a few days off before we play at home will help us.”

Brooke Tolman recorded her sixth double-double in a row as she tallied 15 assists and corralled in 12 digs in her effort Saturday night. Melissa Porter was the leading Yellowjacket in kills with six off 16 attacks to hit .250 while Jody Lutz hit on 4-of-11 (.364) of her attacks.

Meg Ryan led CWU with a double-double of her own that including 10 kills and 10 digs.

As a team, the Wildcats out-performed the Yellowjackets as MSUB was held to just 17 kills to CWU's 36.

The Yellowjackets will look to turn their fortunes around next week with their first two home matches of the season under the new lights in Alterowitz Gymnasium. MSUB will first welcome Saint Martin's University to Billings on Thursday, Sept. 22 before Western Oregon arrives on Saturday, Sept. 24. Both matches will commence at 7 p.m.
