Yellowjackets Hit the Road for Final Time in 2011

BILLINGS, Mont. – Last week saw the Montana State University Billings volleyball team earn a split between their two matches that included ending their season-high six-match losing skid with a 3-2 win over the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday night. Earlier in the week the Yellowjackets dropped their Great Northwest Athletic Conference match 0-3 on Thursday night to the University of Alaska Anchorage.
 
The month of November signals the end is near for the 2011 volleyball season and the 'Jackets are playing two of their final three matches this week on the road. MSUB will first travel to Burnaby, British Columbia on Thursday, Nov. 3 to tangle with the Clan of Simon Fraser before heading to Bellingham, Wash. where the Vikings of Western Washington await the Yellowjackets' arrival for a Saturday, Nov. 5 GNAC match.
 
Entering this week's road matches senior Brooke Tolman finds herself fifth all-time for assists in a career with 1675 assists with three matches remaining. Her 892 assists this season, currently second-most in the GNAC, leaves her 72 from matching the the 10th place all-time mark of 964 assists in a season currently held by Kristen Janney's 2002 season.
 
Freshman Monica Grimsrud is currently seventh in the league with 3.62 kills per set while her 333 terminations leads the conference and is two more than Alaska Anchorage's Jackie Matthisen who leads the league with 4.24 kills per set. Grimsrud is the only freshman in the top-10 in kills per set.
 
Grimsrud is also seventh in the conference for most points per set with 3.91 having tallied 360 total points so far this season, good enough for second most total points this season.
 
Senior Melissa Porter and sophomore Taylor Adams are both currently 12th in the conference in different fields as Porter is 12th with 0.76 blocks per set while Adams' team-leading .234 hitting percentage has her 12th in the league in that category.
 
Morgan Moss and Erin Compton are ninth and 11th respectively in the GNAC for digs per set this season as Moss has 3.92 digs per set while Compton is averaging 3.62 per set.
 
The Clan is currently 1-17 overall and 1-13 in conference with their only win coming over the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Oct. 20. SFU is currently hitting .086 for the season while their opposition is currently hitting .271.
 
The Vikings of WWU are currently 13-5 overall and 11-3 in league including having already defeated MSUB once this season on Oct. 6 in Billings. WWU enters this week hitting a league third-best .215 as a team while holding their opponents to a .168 hitting percentage.
