MONMOUTH, Ore. – Six Yellowjackets recorded multiple kills and two came close to registering double-doubles, but it was not enough as the Montana State University Billings volleyball team was unable to earn the season sweep over the Wolves of Western Oregon University, falling 0-3 (18-25, 21-25, 17-25) Thursday night inside the Old PE Building in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.
With the loss, MSUB finds itself 9-11 for the 2011 season, 3-8 in league play while WOU improves to 9-7 overall, 8-4 in the GNAC.
“We knew going in that it would be a tough match,” said head coach Steve Smith shortly after the match. “It's tough to play on the road and we have two more matches this weekend. We have to play better and continue to look forward.”

Monica Grimsrud was one kill away from tallying a double-double in the match as she had a team-high-tying nine kills and 10 digs. Teammate
Krista Norris also registered nine terminations while hitting a solid .241 (9-2-29).
Brooke Tolman just missed out on her 11
th double-double of the season, setting up 21 assists and corralling in nine digs.
As a team the Yellowjackets hit .140 (up from .125 entering intermission) due to 19 attack errors compared to WOU's 12 attack errors to give them a .263 hitting percentage.
Kriss Kemper led all players with 11 kills and a stout .458 hitting percentage (11-0-24).
MSUB will continue on their road trek, next traveling to Lacey, Wash. where the Yellowjackets will look to attempt the season-sweep over the Saints of Saint Martin's University. Earlier this season, the Jackets claimed a 3-2 home victory over the Saints in Billings on Sept. 22.
