Seawolves Too Much for Yellowjackets on the Road

Boxscore

ANCHORAGE, Alaska
– Down 24-18 in the third set and facing a 0-2 set deficit, the Montana State University Billings volleyball team fought to keep their Great Northwest Athletic Conference match against the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves alive with three straight points. However, the late rally would not be enough as the Yellowjackets dropped their second road match in a row 3-0 (19-25, 14-25, 21-25) to the Seawolves inside Wells Fargo Sports Complex Saturday night.

After the loss, MSUB finds itself 8-7 overall and 2-4 in GNAC play while UAA is now 10-5 and 6-1 in the league.

“Once again we just did not play well on the road,” said head coach Steve Smith. “We just couldn't get anything going early, and when we finally did start to get rolling, it was too little too late. We'll just have to hope heading home will help.”

Monica Grismrud was the only Yellowjacket to break into double-digit kills in the match as she recorded 10 terminations while hitting .280 (10-3-25). Taylor Adams was not far behind as she recorded seven kills.

Brooke Tolman's streak of double-doubles came to an end in Anchorage as she was only able to break into double-digits in assists, setting up 25 assists.

Jackie Mattisen recorded a match-high 15 kills to lead Anchorage in their attack.

As a team, MSUB was able to out-block UAA on the net 6-3.

The Yellowjackets will look to return home for their next four matches starting with a GNAC match hosting Western Washington University in Alterowitz Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
