Box Score Box Score

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Junior Jaucelyn Richter scored 20 seconds into the second half, but an equalizer in the 88th minute forced the Montana State Billings women's soccer team to settle for a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.

"I thought today was a good game for us," said interim head coach Wojtek Krakowiak. "To go on the road and get a draw isn't the worst thing in the world. We got four points this weekend, which is big for us and we just have to keep pushing. I'm happy with our performance and the way we're playing right now."

The Yellowjackets collected four points this weekend with today's result, defeating No.14 Seattle Pacific on Thursday. The Jackets moved their record to 7-1-2 on the year and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0-2 record. The Wildcats are now 5-2-3 overall and 4-1-1 in league play.

Both sides played an even first half as the Jackets managed seven shots to the Wildcat's six, but MSUB managed five shots on goal.

The breakthrough for the Yellowjackets came in the 46th minute as Heidi Greenback took control of the ball and fed a pass to Richter down the middle of the pitch where she scored from seven yards out. It was Richter's team-high sixth goal of the season and Greenback's fifth assist.

As MSUB held the advantage throughout a majority of the second half, the equalizer came off a corner kick from Miranda Heslep and was headed through to Sydney Coleman, where Amy Pate was waiting for an easy tap-in from three yards out.

The Jackets had a pair of opportunities in each overtime period. Amanda Brusic put her head on the ball in the 93rd minute, but Kori Butterfield was there for one of her 11 saves in the match. Butterfield came up big in the second overtime as well, when Jennifer Brookshire was denied in the 104th minute.

Offensively the Yellowjackets tallied 18 shots during the match, 12 of those shots were on goal. Richter had a team-high eight shots and five on goal, while Brusic put all three of her shots on frams.

Defensively the Jackets stymied the Wildcats who took 16 total shots, but managed just three shots on goal.

MSUB will remain on the road this week, playing just one game at Northwest Nazarene next Saturday at 12 p.m.
