BILLINGS, Mont. – Visiting Rocky Mountain College swept a non-conference volleyball match at Montana State Billings Monday evening, 3-0 (25-10, 25-5, 25-10). With the loss, the Yellowjackets fell to 2-14 on the year, while Rocky improved to 14-5.
The Battlin' Bears dominated the match from the get go. Rocky hit .417 for the match with 33 kills and just three errors. MSUB hit a season-low -.131 with 16 kills and 29 errors. Senior Jennifer Boe led the way for the Yellowjackets with seven kills, while junior Brook Tolman tallied 12 assists and a team-high eight digs.
RMC was led by 12 kills from Ashley Welborn and Kristin Barott tallied 26 assists. Sara Brunner had a team-high 13 digs. The Battlin' Bears had 12 total blocks with six solo blocks.
The Yellowjackets will look to regroup and return to conference play beginning a four-match road trip at nationally ranked Western Washington Thursday and then travel to Simon Fraser on Saturday. Trips to Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene are scheduled the following week. MSUB then returns home Thurs., Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. versus Western Oregon beginning a stretch of five of the last eight matches at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
