MONMOUTH, Ore. – Freshman Heidi Greenback (Woodinville, WA) scored a pair of goals and sophomore Jaucelyn Richter (Billings, MT) had a pair of assists in lifting the Montana State Billings women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Western Oregon University Saturday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets improved to 10-4-1 on the season and 7-4-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The 10 wins are tied for fourth most in program history, tying the win total of the 2008 squad. The 2006 team has the most wins in school history with 13.

“I'm really proud of the offense today,” said head coach Don Trentham. “We did a great job of stepping up to the challenge of winning an important game on the road after a tough loss. They did a great job of taking advantage of the opportunities we were given. Our team effort was outstanding and as a result, we got a well-deserved victory. We played a solid game defensively and were able to limit our mistakes. Even though we came here to get a pair of wins, it was nice to earn a split and keep ourselves in the mix for the playoffs."

After a scoreless first half, Greenback put the Jackets in the lead as Richter led her up the field with a great pass and got her foot behind the ball to score the game-winner in the 69th minute. It was Greenback's fifth goal of the season and third game-winner.

The second goal came in the 81st minute as Kristen Kastelic (Phoenix, AZ) found Richter in space, who then got another great ball into Greenback, finishing the play with a powerful strike that got past the Wolves' keeper. It was Greenback's team-leading, sixth goal of the season and Richter's fourth assist of the year.

“Now we have to turn our attention to a pair of huge home games next week,” said Trentham. The game versus Western Washington is really big if you look at the regional standings. It's going to be very important that we find ways to win these last three matches, especially at home.”

The Yellowjackets return home for the final three games of the season beginning next Thursday, Oct. 28, against Western Washington at 3 p.m. The Jackets will then take on Simon Fraser on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 12:30 p.m.
