PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second time this season, MSUB softball's
Bella Rovens was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday.

Rovens, MSUB's lead-off hitter, had six hits in seven at bats for a .857 outing at the plate as the Yellowjackets split two games to earn the No. 3 seed in the conference playoffs. Among Rovens' six hits were a pair of doubles as MSUB finished the day 1-1 against Western Oregon. On the season, Rovens leads the GNAC in on-base percentage (.488) and ranks fourth in batting (.393), runs scored (44) and stolen bases (12).Â

"Bella had two fantastic games for us as the lead-off hitter," MSUB head coach
Lisa Allen said. "She was really seeing the ball well, and did a good job if you need a hard on the ground through the infield, including a couple of solid line drive to the outfield."

This is the second honor this season for the center fielder from Sparks, Nev. Rovens was also named GNAC Player of the Week for Mar. 30- Apr. 5 after batting .470 in a 3-1 series win over Central Washington. Rovens had eight hits in 17 at bats, including a game-winning home run in the eighth inning of a 12-10 victory, as the Yellowjackets rallied from a 9-1 deficit in the fifth.

Montana State University Billings (26-21, 14-8 GNAC) the #3 seed, is set to face off against the #2 seed Western Washington (26-16, 17-7) in Yakima at the GNAC tournament Apr. 30- May 2. The Yellowjackets will play the Vikings Thursday, Apr. 30 at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Live stats for the game will be available at gnacsports.com.
